The breeze rustles the
grass under my feet and carries the smell of roasted corn. There
are pumpkins on every stand and wagon. Children run by
with caramel apples and lollipops. The turkey gobbles in its pen
as another gust of wind stirs the corn maze my little brother is
probably lost in.

Windy Acres offers a wide range of fresh fruits
and vegetables: squash, zucchini, raspberries
...

But
the best thing about fall at
Windy Acres Farms
is picking crisp, juicy apples right off the tree.
I
love walking the dirt path, half a mile past raspberry bushes and hay wagons.
The trees are full of all kinds of apples—red to green, sour to sweet. Big
ones, little ones and perfect ones, I just pick a few of each. You can
appreciate the time spent creating this event as you bite into a perfectly ripe
Mackintosh and gaze out into the countless rows of trees, breathing n the scent
of a perfect fall day.
I
think they have the best fruits and vegetables, squash, zucchini, raspberries,
eggplant, tomatoes—plus delicious mozzarella and lots of treats. There’s plenty
of space for kids to play, and horses and cows to make friends with. I think
it’s a perfect fall stop for family fun in Calverton, and a once in a lifetime
experience for everyone.
